The Nut Butter Mafia brand has been an absolutely roaring success in health and supplement stores around the country. Their vast and versatile range of nut butters has become all the rage and people buy their various nut butter products in droves. I went and got hold of one of their more eccentric products – Peanut Date.

About the products

The make up of this particular type of nutter is quite curious, to say the least. It consists of roasted peanuts, macadamia oil and dates. The flavour and texture are also quite unique as well. The mixture of roasted peanuts and macadamia oil gives you an extraordinarily rich fatty flavour that may be overwhelming on its own. However, it is counterbalanced with the addition of the dates mixed into the product, giving you that sweet taste that cuts the heavy fat combination. 

An unfortunate con with this product is that the nutritional data is not present on the jar. So, for you guys who count calories and macros, there is not much info here on macro densities or the breakdown. If you are strict dieter, this product would throw you for a bit of a loop.


I am going to go a little broader here in this section and talk about how you can use nut butters in your fitness endeavours.

In terms of nut butters being considered a source of protein by many, nut butters (in particular, peanut butter) generally get 15% of their calories from protein. This makes it a generally decent source of protein for those on a plant-based diet. Keep in mind though, that it is still a pretty dense source of calories. 

Most importantly, nut butters are pretty loaded when it comes to healthy fats. They general contain oleic acid, a monosaturated fat deemed quite healthy by the fitness community at large. Furthermore, nut butters have a generally well-packed range of vitamins and minerals, including vitamins B and E as well as magnesium and manganese. 

There are a lot of benefits to be had from adding your choice of nutter butters to your daily routine. However, you do need to be careful not to have too much. Nut butters are extremely calorie-dense and can make you put on weight real fast if you have too much. So do things in moderation when it comes nut butters.


The entire nut butter range from Nut Butter Mafia is absolutely incredible. I am generally a stickler for their more conventional nut butters, but I have tried their more adventurous products such as the honey butter, the s’mores butter and the chocolate peanut butter. The particular one I gave a try this time round, the Peanut Date flavour, gets a good 3,5 out of 5 for me. It is a very strong nut butter but quite tasty, nonetheless.
